About the Event
Gardening With Tikanga Māori with Rob Small will talk about gardening according to Māori values and tikanga and the more than 700 years of Māori science that followed their understanding of the world around them. He will discuss the modern concept of food sovereignty and why this is so important given the widening gap between the rich and poor in Aotearoa.
Rob Small is Curator at Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei’s ethnobotanic gardens. He is the designer and works with the Iwi to represent the gardens and its aspects, such as food, wellness and weaving, that reflect Ōrākei’s tikanga and their Mātauranga. Brought to you by EcoMatters.
